Washington Real Estate Investment Trust is a self-administered equity real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company's business consists of the ownership and operation of income producing real estate properties in the greater Washington metro region. The Company owns a portfolio of multifamily and commercial (office and retail) properties. It focuses on properties in the Washington metro region, near transportation nodes and in areas with employment drivers and demographics. It invests in additional income producing properties through acquisitions, development and redevelopment. It owns a portfolio of approximately 43 properties, totaling 3.4 million square feet of commercial space and approximately 7,059 multifamily units, and land held for development. These 43 properties consists of approximately 22 multifamily properties, 13 office properties and 8 retail centers.
