Gaetz Criticizes McCarthy; Dozens of Republicans Leave the Room -- WSJ
By Natalie Andrews and Siobhan Hughes
Rep. Matt Gaetz came to the podium to nominate Jim Jordan. As many of the detractors have done, he used the time at the microphone to also criticize Mr. McCarthy.
"Mr. McCarthy doesn't have the votes today," he said. "He will not have the votes tomorrow, and he will not have the votes next week, next month, next year."
GOP Rep. Mike Bost of Illinois stood up, pointed at Mr. Gaetz and yelled that he was out of order. Mr. Gaetz kept going.
About three dozen Republicans then walked out of the room.
After the speech, Rep. Lauren Boebert nominated Oklahoma Republican Kevin Hern.
