The “2024 ESG Global Leaders Conference” was held in Shanghai from October 16 to 18. Luo Chao, general manager of Honeywell Energy and Sustainable Technology Group's strategic marketing and innovation business, attended and delivered a speech. According to Luo Chao, Honeywell is a global high-tech company, listed on the US NASDAQ, with about 110,000 employees worldwide. Its business covers the fields of future aviation, automation, energy transformation, and sustainable development. Luo Chao explained that Honeywell has done two main tasks in terms of energy transformation: First, Honeywell has announced the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. Notably, Honeywell not only set this target in Scope 1 and Scope 2, but also included Scope 3 as a carbon neutrality target. Second, as a high-tech company, Honeywell has “two 60s.” First, 60% of the product portfolio or business comes from products that serve ESG or the product portfolio system that customers demand; in line with this, 60% of product development funds are used for ESG. In addition, Luo Chao explained that Honeywell has also set a goal of 2035 and launched the “East Serves the East” strategy in China, which uses local R&D capabilities to serve the local energy transition. As an example, he said, “The field of sustainable aviation fuel is currently particularly popular. Gutter oil, carbon dioxide, and general biomass resources can all be used as sustainable aviation fuel. We have a technical layout on every technology route, which can help the industry reduce carbon emissions by about 60 to 80%,” and “some customers have discovered through measurements that they can achieve a return on investment cycle of 3 to 6 or 7 years.”
