Deposit and Withdrawal FAQs

07/13/2020

We get tons of calls and messages asking questions about our withdrawal and deposit system.  Banking can sometimes be a little tricky.  Here we have compiled a few frequently asked questions and answers to help you work through some of these questions.

Q: Why didn’t my deposit settle instantly?

A: ACH deposits take 3-5 full business days to fully clear while ACH withdrawals only take two full business days.  As a courtesy, we grant our clients provisional cash up to $1000.00 with which to trade stocks while waiting for the deposit to settle. Bear in mind that if you have had multiple bank reversals in the past, you will lose this provisional buying power.

Q: Can I trade options while waiting for my deposit to settle?

A: Options can only be traded using fully settled funds and provisional credit does not apply to them.  If you would like to have funds readily available to trade options, you are welcome to do a wire transfer instead of an ACH deposit – they settle much faster.

Q: How long does a wire transfer take? And how do I do it?

A: Domestic wire transfers take 1-2 business days, and foreign wires can take up to 5 business days.  US wires typically settle next business day, as long as they were properly filled out. So, if you’re in the US and looking to have access to your funds more quickly, this might be your answer.  To view instructions for wiring money into your Webull account, click HERE (https://www.webull.com/hc/categories/fq234-How-do-I-fund-my-Webull-account-with-a-wire-transfer).  Please note that incoming domestic wire transfers cost $8 and international wires cost $12.50, both of which are fees charged by our bank and not by Webull.

Q: Why isn’t my bank linking via ACH?

A: Sometimes you just need to unlink and relink your bank to get the cash flowing – the classic “turn it off and turn it back on” situation.  This relink is a security measure; you are relinking it because the current link has gone stale or we’re asking you to relink as a security precaution.  To unlink on the mobile app, tap the Webull logo in the middle bottom of the screen.  Then tap More >> Bank Account (green icon on the right).  Click on your bank account.  On the top right there should be a little recycle basket.  By tapping that icon you can unlink the bank account.  To relink, go back to deposit and fill out your information again.  And remember, if real-time verification did not work, you can always try micro-deposit verification as it uses a different connection!  Credit Unions often have a higher success rate with micro-deposit verification.

Q: Can I withdraw funds to a different bank account other than the one I deposited from?

A: It will be much easier to withdraw to the same bank account you deposited from.  Otherwise you will have to wait at least 60 days (to comply with AML rules) from the time of deposit to when you can withdraw to a new bank.  We do account for special situations, of course – if your old bank account is closed, please reach out to us via our Help Center with documents proving that the old account is closed and the new account is open with your name and a positive balance.  We should be able to resolve the issue in several business days.

Hopefully we answered some questions here.  As always, feel free to take a look at our Help Center on our website for more information, or email us at CS@webull.com.
