Sumitomo Seika Chemicals Co Ltd is engaged in the manufacture and sale of superabsorbent polymers, functional materials, and other products. The Company operates through two segments. The Superabsorbent Polymers segment manufactures and sells hygiene materials such as disposable diapers and sanitary products, as well as industrial materials including pet sheets and waterproofing materials for cables. The Functional Materials segment is engaged in the manufacture and sale of water-soluble polymers, emulsions, fine particle polymers, pharmaceutical products, functional products, electronics gases, standard gases, industrial chemicals, medical gases and chemical gases, as well as the design, manufacture and sale of gas generators (pressure swing adsorption type) for oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and other gases. The Company also engages in contract manufacturing of chemicals and other related businesses.
