Sakata Seed Corp is a Japan-based company mainly engaged in the sale of horticultural products (vegetable seeds, flower seeds, bulbs, seedlings, and agricultural and horticultural supplies). The Company operates through three segments. The Domestic Wholesale segment produces or purchases vegetable seeds, flower seeds, bulbs, seedlings, and agricultural and horticultural supplies, and wholesales them to domestic seed companies. The Overseas Wholesale segment, through its headquarters and overseas subsidiaries, produces or purchases vegetable seeds, flower seeds, and seedlings, and wholesales them to overseas seed companies. The Retail segment produces or purchases products targeted at general gardening enthusiasts, sells them to home improvement stores, and also sells them through mail order. The Company also undertakes the construction and management of landscaping projects for government and private organizations, temporary staffing services, and contract research and development.
