PRA Group, Inc is a specialty finance company. The Company's primary business is the purchase, collection and management of nonperforming loan portfolios. Its operating segments include U.S. and European businesses. It purchases loans from credit originators who have chosen not to pursue, or have been unsuccessful in collecting, the full balance owed to them (core accounts). It also purchases loans in situations where the customer is involved in bankruptcy or similar proceeding (insolvency accounts). The Company, as part of an ancillary business, purchases and provides fee-based services for class-action claims recoveries in the United States. The types of Core and Insolvency loans we purchase include general purpose and private label credit cards, consumer loans, auto loans, overdrafts and small business loans. Nonperforming loan portfolios are typically sold through formal sales processes in which bids are requested from a group of pre-qualified potential buyers.
