Vicarious Surgical Inc. is a robotics company, developing technology to improve surgical procedures. The Company is combining advanced miniaturized robotics, computer science, sensing and three-dimensional (3D) visualization to build a single-port surgical robot, called the Vicarious Surgical System, that helps surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgery. The Vicarious Surgical System is capable of incision sizes of approximately 1.8 centimeters. The Vicarious Surgical System consists of a camera and instrument arms, a surgeon's console and a patient cart. The Vicarious Surgical System has a high-performance stereoscopic camera that, when combined with robotic motion, provides a range of viewing capabilities and is being developed to continuously map the depth of the abdominal cavity. The Vicarious Surgical System surgeon console is designed to provide all the systems necessary for the surgeon in visualizing the surgical field and controlling all the motions of the robot.
