First Bankers Trustshares, Inc. is the holding company for First Bankers Trust Company, N. A. (the Bank). The Bank is engaged in banking and bank related services and serves a market area consisting primarily of Adams, McDonough, Schuyler, Hancock and Sangamon counties in west central Illinois and a loan production office in St. Clair county, Illinois. It attracts deposits from the general public and uses such deposits, together with borrowings and other funds, to originate one-to-four family residential mortgage loans, consumer loans, business loans and agricultural loans in its primary market area. It also invests in investment securities consisting primarily of United States government or agency obligations, mortgage-backed securities, financial institution certificates of deposit, and other liquid assets. Its portfolio segments include commercial operating, commercial real estate, agricultural operating, agricultural real estate, and construction and land development.
