Hamilton Bancorp, Inc. is a bank holding company. The Company’s subsidiary includes Hamilton Bank (the Bank). The Bank is engaged in taking deposits from the general public and investing those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, in one- to four-family residential mortgage loans (including owner-occupied and investor loans), commercial real estate loans, commercial business loans, home equity loans and lines of credit, construction loans and, to a limited extent, consumer loans (consisting primarily of loans secured by deposits and automobile loans). It also invests in securities, which consist primarily of the United States government agency and municipal bond obligations, mortgage-backed securities and collateralized mortgage obligations issued or guaranteed by the United States government-sponsored enterprises and equity securities of government-sponsored enterprises.
