Ameritrans Capital Corporation (Ameritrans) is a closed-end investment company. The Company categorizes its investments into four types of securities: corporate loans receivable, commercial loans receivable, life insurance settlements and equity investments. It makes loans that have primarily been secured by real estate mortgages or, in the case of corporate loans, generally are senior within the capital structure. Ameritrans’ commercial loans primarily finance either the purchase of the equipment and related assets necessary to open a new business or the purchase or improvement of an existing business. It makes equity investments that may be independent or incidental to its other lines of business.
