Volaris Reports 17% Decline in January Traffic

07:27 AM EST, 02/05/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Volaris (VLRS), a Mexican low-cost airline, said Friday revenue passenger miles declined 17% in January from a year earlier on a capacity decrease of 3.2%.

Load factor was 73.9% during the month, compared with 86.5% in the prior year. It transported 1.5 million passengers, representing 97% of its January 2020 capacity.

Looking ahead, the carrier said it expects demand weakness and booking curves to compress in Q1. The company plans to operate about 80% of capacity versus the same period last year.
