The Zhitong Finance App learned that Microsoft (MSFT.US) released the latest artificial intelligence image model MAI Image 2.7 on Tuesday to further strengthen its technical layout in the field of generative AI. According to third-party evaluation results, the model ranked second in the AI image model ranking, after OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, and performed better than related AI models under Google (GOOGL.US, GOOG.US) and Microsoft's previous generation MAI-Image-2.6.

Microsoft said that MAI Image 2.7 is currently available on platforms such as Arena, Artificial Analysis, and MAI Playground, and users can experience the features of the new model through these platforms.

According to the official blog published by Microsoft, MAI Image 2.7 performed better than the previous generation MAI-Image-2.6 in all 10 application scenarios and 7 image editing operations evaluated by Artificial Analysis.

Specifically, the new model has reached industry-leading levels in the fields of image enhancement and restoration, inference based image editing, scene and style adjustment, and text and symbol editing. Among them, scene and style editing is the field with the most outstanding performance in MAI Image 2.7. Its Elo score is 24 points ahead of the second-ranked model in this category, highlighting Microsoft's technical progress in complex image editing tasks.

It is worth noting that Microsoft is the first to open the MAI Image 2.7 image editing function this time, and the text generation image function has not yet been officially launched. Microsoft said that related features will be launched in the near future.

As competition for generative AI technology continues to heat up, image generation and editing have become one of the key areas of focus for tech giants. Microsoft's launch of a new generation of AI image models shows that the company is continuing to strengthen its own AI model development capabilities and expand the application scenarios of its AI technology by improving image editing performance.

Judging from market performance, as of press release, Microsoft's stock price rose slightly by 0.35% to 534.44 US dollars.

Overall, MAI Image 2.7's performance in third-party evaluations reflects Microsoft's continued progress in the field of AI imaging technology. As the text generation image function is introduced later, the market will pay more attention to the actual application performance of the new model and whether it can help Microsoft enhance its competitiveness in the generative AI market.
