11:14 AM EDT, 10/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- France will allow local fuel retailers to sell diesel released from the country's strategic reserves without having to replace the volume afterward under a new mechanism, petroleum lobby group Ufip told MT Newswires on Tuesday. Under the new mechanism, retailers will buy the fuel at below-market prices. Previously, stocks were lent to retailers and had to be replaced a month later. The government will release 1.6 million cubic meters of strategic diesel stocks, effective Nov. 1 and covering a three-month period, Ufip said. The French Prime Minister's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
