PLANO, Texas, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) today announced that John Henderson will join the executive leadership team in January 2027, as Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals (TORCH) since 2018.

CHC President and CEO Jim Kendrick commented on the appointment: "We are thrilled to welcome John to our executive leadership team. His deep commitment to community healthcare, proven operational expertise, and track record of legislative and financial advocacy will play a crucial role in CHC's ongoing commitment to strengthening rural healthcare delivery."

CHC Chief Operating Officer Justin Doss added: "John brings an extraordinary breadth of operational leadership and a deep understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges facing rural and community hospitals. As he joins our executive team, I look forward to working closely with him to oversee our hospital operations and drive operational excellence across all CHC relationships."

For more than eight years, Henderson has led TORCH, championing advocacy and operational support for all 155 rural hospitals across Texas. His tenure is marked by significant legislative, policy, and financial achievements, including leading advocacy for the passage of the rural OB rate enhancement and HB 18 during the 2025 Texas legislative session, securing $250M in targeted Medicaid rates in 2023, and turning an initial financial loss into seven consecutive years of gains while quadrupling cash and investments. He also advanced key federal initiatives, including emergency-rule implementation of the Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) designation in 2020 and supporting the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) in 2026.

Prior to joining TORCH, Henderson served for 16 years as CEO of Childress Regional Medical Center, leading a $55M rural public hospital district recognized nationally as a Top 100 Hospital and Top 20 Rural Hospital. He began his healthcare leadership career in hospital finance, serving nearly three years as Controller at Denton Regional Medical Center (now Medical City Denton).

Henderson earned his Master of Business Administration in Health Organization Management from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Management from Abilene Christian University. A respected leader in health system governance throughout Texas, he previously served as Board Chair for both the Texas Hospital Association (THA) and TORCH, and has served on numerous state health advisory councils and task forces.

Henderson expressed his enthusiasm for joining CHC: "I am honored and excited to join the Community Hospital Corporation team. CHC has earned an outstanding reputation for developing innovative solutions to ensure the resiliency and vibrancy of community hospitals. I look forward to working with the entire leadership team to advance our shared mission of supporting community healthcare."
