Bio-Techne Corporation (TECH) is a Minnesota-based life sciences company with a 50-year history of serving the scientific research and diagnostics industries. The company develops and supplies reagents, analytical instruments, and precision diagnostic solutions used across the life sciences sector. Its operations span three core brands: R&D Systems, Bio-Techne Spatial, and Bio-Techne Diagnostics, covering applications from basic scientific discovery and translational research to clinical diagnostics.

With a presence in 34 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 3,000 employees, Bio-Techne serves academic institutions, biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies, and clinical laboratories. With a market capitalization of approximately $11.38 billion, Bio-Techne is gearing up to report its fiscal 2027 first-quarter results soon. Wall Street expects EPS to reach $0.38, marking a 5.6% increase from the year-ago quarter.

The company also boasts a consistent earnings track record, having met or exceeded analysts’ expectations in each of the past four quarters. Looking beyond the upcoming report, however, the earnings outlook presents a mixed picture. Fiscal 2027 EPS is projected to edge down 1.2% year over year to $1.70 before rebounding 12.4% to $1.91 in fiscal 2028, suggesting a potential recovery in earnings growth.

Bio-Techne’s shares have gained 10.1% over the past year, underperforming the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX), which advanced 13.4% over the same period. In fact, the stock has also underperformed its healthcare-sector peers. The State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) gained 23.3% over the past year.

Bio-Techne delivered modest sales growth in its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results, reported on August 12, 2026. Net sales rose 1% year over year to $321.2 million, with organic growth reaching 3%, slightly exceeding Wall Street’s expectations. On the bottom line, GAAP diluted EPS rebounded to $0.35 from a loss of $0.11 in the year-ago quarter, while adjusted EPS remained flat and matched consensus estimates.

Beyond its quarterly performance, the company’s outlook is shaped by a major corporate development. On Jun. 25, Bio-Techne announced an agreement to be acquired by Merck KGaA of Darmstadt, Germany, for $73 per share in cash, valuing the transaction at approximately $11.3 billion in enterprise value.

Wall Street remains cautious on Bio-Techne, with analysts maintaining a consensus “Hold” rating. Of the 13 analysts covering the stock, one recommends a “Strong Buy,” while the remaining 12 assign a “Hold” rating. With shares already trading above the average price target of $70.91, the stock appears to have outpaced analysts’ expectations. However, the Street-high target of $78 suggests a potential upside of 7.5%, indicating some room for further gains.
