Insiders who bought Envoy Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ:COCH) stock lover the last 12 months are probably not as affected by last week’s 11% loss. After taking the recent loss into consideration, the US$8.17m worth of stock they bought is now worth US$12.2m, indicating that their investment yielded a positive return.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Envoy Medical Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Glen Taylor bought US$7.5m worth of shares at a price of US$0.40 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$0.60), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Insider Ownership Of Envoy Medical

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Envoy Medical insiders own about US$14m worth of shares. That equates to 31% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
