CACI International stock barely flinched after earnings, easing about 0.7% to around $619 despite a strong first quarter for fiscal 2027. The headline is simple: Revenue reached about $2.5b and adjusted diluted earnings per share came in at $7.66, both backed by a healthy $133m of free cash flow.
Short term traders focused on the small price dip. Long term holders will likely home in on what matters more, as management lifted full year revenue and earnings guidance and pointed to a contract backlog of roughly $34b that extends the investment story well beyond this quarter.

Bulls say the CACI International story really turns on higher value work and what that does to profitability.
"A critical factor is that CACI converts its large, long-duration backlog and recent awards in areas such as electronic warfare, counter UAS, and space into sustained EBITDA margin expansion and free cash flow at levels close to current guidance."
Q1 EBITDA margin of 13.3% and a reaffirmed high 12% range for the year show that higher complexity programs are already supporting richer economics. The 2x book to bill and US$34b backlog, with 94% of FY revenue expected from existing programs, indicate those contracts are moving from narrative to execution, while free cash flow of US$133m tracks the upgraded guidance path.

Bears worry CACI International is leaning too hard into higher risk deals just as program complexity climbs.
"Although CACI International highlights a growing mix of higher margin technology work and increasing use of commercial contracting, the heavier tilt toward fixed price and FAR Part 12 structures means more execution and pricing risk if program complexity rises or costs run ahead of assumptions. This could cap EBITDA margin expansion and limit free cash flow relative to current expectations."
Q1 and Q2 present a more balanced picture. EBITDA margin sits in the high 12% to 13% range and free cash flow reached US$133m, which counters fears of immediate contract strain. The stress point is elsewhere. Organic growth in Q1 was 2.1%, below FY 2026 and recent double digit quarterly figures, so the concern that complex programs might slow scalable wins has not been fully cleared.
CACI International just highlighted how contract quality can matter more than a one day share move. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market corrects them.
