According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, recently, under the guidance of the National Water Conservation Office and the Guangdong Water Resources Department, Guangzhou innovatively completed the country's first market-based transaction for reducing water-saving carbon emissions using reclaimed water, and successfully “monetized” 3,351 tons of water-saving carbon emissions. This marks the first time that the ecological benefits of reducing carbon emissions from sewage treatment and reuse have been converted to value through market-based methods, filling the gap in market-based transactions for recycling water and saving carbon, transforming intangible water saving and carbon reduction values into quantifiable and tradable carbon assets, and opening up a new value path for saving water.
