Zhitong Finance App News, Hehuang Pharmaceutical (00013) announced that following the announcement on September 3, 2026 and completion of customary transaction conditions including antitrust review, the exclusive development and licensing agreement between the company's subsidiary Hutchmed (Shanghai) Limited (HUTCHMED) Limited (HUTCHMED Limited) and a subsidiary of GSK plc (“GlaxoSmithKline”) has completed the transaction. The agreement grants the GlaxoSmithKline subsidiary the right to develop and commercialize the HMPL-A830 on a global scale other than mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

This is the world's first (first-in-class) antibody-targeted conjugate drug (ATTC) candidate, using a highly selective and potent KRAS (Kirsten rat sarcoma) small molecule inhibitor as a payload and conjugated with an anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) antibody. Colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and lung cancer are the types of cancer with the highest incidence of KRAS gene changes, and these patients often lack safe and long-lasting KRAS therapy. HMPL-A830 is designed to meet this need by delivering KRAS inhibitors directly to tumors with EGFR expression while blocking EGFR and KRAS signaling pathways, thereby improving efficacy, durability, and tolerability. The phase IA portion of a global clinical trial of hmPL-a830 to treat unresectable advanced or metastatic solid tumors in China and the US began in September 2026 (clinicaltrials.gov registration number NCT07718581).

According to the terms of the agreement, Hutchison Whampoa Pharmaceuticals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will be responsible for the HMPL-A830 global Phase I development project. GlaxoSmithKline's subsidiary will be responsible for all subsequent clinical development and commercialization activities within its region. With the completion of the exclusive license agreement, Hutchison Whampoa Pharmaceuticals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is expected to receive a down payment of US$110 million in the short term, and may collect additional potential payments of up to US$1,185 million for regulatory, development and commercial sales milestones, plus tiered royalties based on net sales.
