Stellantis Canada Union Back Strike Action With 97% Vote

12:20 AM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Trade union Unifor said Monday that 97.3% of its members at Stellantis (STLAM.MI, STLAP.PA) in Canada voted in favor of authorizing strike action, if needed, after negotiations with the automaker reached an impasse in September. The voting was held on Oct. 17 and Sunday. The union is not yet in a legal strike position, as neither party requested a "no board" report required under labor law before job action can begin. Unifor said it is seeking a fair collective agreement that protects jobs for Canadian autoworkers. In a separate notice, the union said that production at the Windsor assembly plant from Monday until the week of Nov. 2 is canceled, adding that production employees should not report to work unless told by their supervisor.
