11:35 PM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency approved the use of Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals Ireland's Redemplo for patients with familial chylomicronemia syndrome, or FCS. Redemplo, or plozasiran, is indicated for adults with FCS, a rare inherited disease that causes extremely high levels of triglycerides in the blood, preventing the body from breaking down lipids, or fats. The drug is administered as a 25-milligram injection every three months and is intended to be used along with a low-fat diet. The approval is supported by a clinical study involving 75 patients with FCS, in which those treated with Redemplo demonstrated an 80% median reduction in triglyceride levels compared with 17% in placebo.
