ETH rebound detonates bears stampede: 97% liquidation in 1 hour, BTC key resistance 83000

According to Woofun AI, the price of Ethereum (ETH) rose strongly to the $2,400 mark, driving Bitcoin (BTC) to rebound to around $82,000 simultaneously. This price change directly sparked a wave of short selling position liquidations in the derivatives market. BlockMedia reporter Ham Ji-hyun pointed out that during the short-term rebound process, short selling positions were quickly cleared. In particular, in the last 1 hour, up to 97% of the liquidation amount was concentrated on short selling positions, showing the extreme characteristics of a rapid shift in market sentiment from pessimism to bullish positions.

Judging from an overview of overall liquidation data, market fluctuations have increased significantly. According to CoinGlass data, the total liquidation scale of derivatives in the last 24 hours on the 19th was approximately US$312.27 million (approximately KRW 415.9 billion), an increase of 2.41% over the previous day. If the ratio of long and short is broken down on a 24-hour basis, the settlement amount for long positions is USD 186.91 million (approximately KRW 249 billion), accounting for 59.9%, while the liquidation amount for short positions is USD 125.18 million (approximately KRW 166.7 billion), accounting for 40.1%.

This data shows that in a long period of time, bullish stop-loss is still the main force in clearing, but the structure is undergoing subtle changes.

Notably, there was a sharp reversal in the short-term trend, and the share of short selling liquidations soared in a very short period of time. Of the $83.51 million liquidation amount in the last 4 hours, approximately 96%, or $80.12 million, came from the liquidation of short positions. However, in the last 1 hour, the trend of short selling was even more obvious: of the total settlement amount of $28.18 million, about 97%, or $27.42 million, was a short selling position settlement, and the settlement amount for long positions was only about $760,000.

This rapid transition from being dominated by bulls to being trampled by bears reveals the vulnerability of leveraged traders at key points in prices.

Data compiled by Woofun AI showed that liquidation details of key assets further confirm this trend. Judging from the 24-hour data, short selling liquidations were mainly focused on ETH and BTC. The liquidation amount of ETH is US$93.99 million (approximately KRW 125.2 billion), making it the largest asset class to be liquidated within 24 hours. Among them, the liquidation amount for short sales was US$53.85 million (approximately KRW 71.7 billion), and the settlement amount for long positions was US$40.13 million (approximately KRW 53.5 billion). In particular, in the last 1 hour, the amount of ETH liquidated was as high as $19.9 million (approximately KRW 262 billion), of which 99.8% were short selling positions.

This indicates that as the price of ETH recovers to the $2,400 mark, those positions betting on falling prices have been centrally cleared. The 24-hour settlement amount for BTC was $67.7 million (about 90.2 billion won), of which the short sale liquidation amount was $34.74 million (about 46.3 billion won), and the settlement amount for long positions was $32.96 million (about 43.9 billion won), giving short selling a slight advantage. In the last 1 hour, BTC also had $3.63 million in liquidations, of which 96.3% were short selling positions.

Other asset performance and BTC liquidity heatmap analysis revealed potential price paths. On SOL, $11.85 million was liquidated, and on ZEC, $13.44 million was liquidated. During the 24-hour period, long positions on SOL and ZEC were mainly liquidated, but during the 1-hour period, short selling positions were centrally cleared. On the BTC liquidation heatmap, there is sufficient liquidity in the range from around $82,500, which is close to the current price, to $83,000.

If the price continues to rebound in the short term and hits this range, there may be more short selling liquidations. Further above, there is also considerable liquidity in the middle of $84,000. Once BTC breaks through the $83000 range, this area will be the next upside target to watch. Conversely, if the price falls again, it will pass around $81,000, and strong downward liquidity will form in the $80,000 to $83,000 range at that time. In particular, in the price range of around $80,000, volatility is likely to increase further once the price falls sharply, since the heat map shows a high liquidity density in the region. Therefore, whether it can break through the $83,000 range and maintain the $81,000 mark in the short term is a key point worth paying attention to. It should be clarified that the clearing map is not a tool for predicting price targets, but only data for price ranges where leveraged positions are concentrated.

Market activity indicators and conclusions indicate a return to leveraged trading. Derivatives trading volume in the last 24 hours reached 129.8 billion 7769 million US dollars (about 172 trillion 997.1 billion won), an increase of 51.73% over the previous day. The amount of open positions (open interest·OI) was 139.62.54 million US dollars (about 185 trillion 97.72 billion won), an increase of 0.87%. Since trading volume and OI are rising at the same time as prices are recovering, it can be inferred that leveraged trading will become active again in the short term.
