US President Trump said that the US has defeated Iran militarily and destroyed its nuclear capabilities. He also said that the US military may stay in the Middle East for a longer period of time to prevent Tehran from rebuilding related capabilities. Trump said during the Kentucky election campaign on Saturday, “I took small-scale action against Iran, and we hit them hard. In that operation, we destroyed its nuclear capability. Some people ask, is it worth doing this? I said they can't have nuclear weapons.” Trump said he had told his advisers that the US might need to stay in the region longer. “We have to make sure Iran's nuclear capabilities don't make a comeback; that's what we're doing.” He also predicted that the war would end “soon.”
