The latest statistics from Taiwan's tourism department show that from January to August of this year, the total number of Taiwanese visitors to the mainland was 2.492 million, an increase of 19.63% over the previous year. People exchanges between the two sides of the Strait remained quite large and showed an increasing trend. Statistics show that from January to August of this year, the mainland steadily ranked as the second largest outbound travel destination for Taiwanese people. Judging from monthly data, the number of visitors to mainland China in a single month from March to August all exceeded 300,000, achieving double-digit year-on-year growth in each month. Among them, the number of visitors to mainland China increased by 32.34% year-on-year in March. It is worth noting that the overall number of Taiwanese people leaving the country increased 15.24% year-on-year during the same period, and the increase in the number of people going to the mainland was higher than the overall increase in outbound travel, indicating strong market demand.
