Cohen & Steers delivered a third quarter marked by broad-based asset inflows and ongoing momentum across key investment strategies, even as non-GAAP earnings per share came in slightly below analyst expectations. Management highlighted organic growth in assets under management, with net inflows spread across real estate, multi-strategy real assets, and preferred securities. CEO Joseph Harvey credited these results to the company’s diversified business model, noting, “Growth was broad based across strategies, vehicles, and distribution channels.” Operating margin decreased year-over-year, reflecting increased compensation tied to higher revenues but was partially offset by tight expense control.
Looking ahead, management pointed to continued expansion opportunities in both wealth and institutional channels, as well as new product launches in active ETFs and international markets. CEO Joseph Harvey emphasized that the company will “invest more” in fast-growing regions like Asia and South Africa, particularly as wealth markets develop and advisory channels mature. The team remains focused on maintaining operating leverage while navigating interest rate headwinds and evolving client demands. Management believes its diversified product line and emphasis on real assets will help sustain growth, even as market dynamics shift.
Management attributed the quarter’s performance to persistent organic asset growth, strong investment performance, and diversification across products and markets.
Cohen & Steers expects future growth to be driven by continued product innovation, expanding geographic reach, and disciplined expense management, though higher interest rates and client portfolio shifts remain key variables.
Going forward, the StockStory team will be watching (1) the pace and breadth of net inflows across real estate, infrastructure, and multi-strategy products, (2) progress in international markets, especially Asia and South Africa, and (3) continued adoption and performance of newly launched active ETFs. Execution on product pipeline expansion and operating margin stabilization will also be important to monitor.
Cohen & Steers currently trades at $69.47, in line with $68.98 just before the earnings. Is the company at an inflection point that warrants a buy or sell? Find out in our full research report (it’s free).
