04:24 AM EDT, 10/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BHP Group's (BHP.L, BHG.JO) Escondida mine workers in Chile are looking to resume negotiations with the mining giant to avert a potential strike amid a wage-related dispute, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday. The union representing supervisors and staff had previously threatened to stage a strike at 8 am local time Wednesday after BHP rejected its final proposal, which incorporated 90% of the company's offer along with its own key demands, according to the report. However, text messages from union President Alexis Barrera early Wednesday indicated that the union remains open to reaching an agreement, the report added. BHP did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
