04:37 AM EDT, 10/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Crédit Agricole (ACA.PA) agreed to acquire 100% of IKB Deutsche Industriebank's share capital from Lone Star Funds, aiming to expand its mid-corporate banking reach across Germany and capitalize on the specialist bank's exposure to the country's Mittelstand. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The French banking group will fund the acquisition entirely from its internal resources and expect the transaction to close by the end of the second quarter of 2027, pending standard antitrust clearances and closing conditions. "Germany is at the heart of our European ambitions and a key pillar of our ACT 2028 plan. With IKB, we welcome into the Group a franchise of exceptional quality, built on a century of proximity to clients, deep sector expertise and an unwavering commitment to the Mittelstand. Together, we will have the scale, the network and the financial capacity to support German companies in their investment, international expansion and energy transition projects," Crédit Agricole Chief Executive Officer Olivier Gavalda said. The French lender also believes the acquisition will offer IKB's clients access to its expertise in corporate and investment banking, leasing, factoring, trade finance, private banking, asset management and insurance. Headquartered in Düsseldorf with 600 employees across six regional offices, IKB is a financing partner for mid-sized German companies, backed by 14.3 billion euros in total assets as of 2025-end. In full-year 2025, the bank posted a net result of 61 million euros alongside 2.8 billion euros in new business, driven by sustainable financing and public development loans. Crédit Agricole's shares were up more than 1% during midmorning trading in Paris.
