On October 10, the 6th China-Pacific Island Political Party Dialogue was held in Beijing, hosted by the Foreign Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee. The theme was “Jointly Writing a New Chapter to Build a New Chapter of Common Destiny between China and Pacific Island Countries”. Pacific Island political party politicians and envoys to China, including Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Tongan Deputy Prime Minister Latour, attended. Liu Haixing said that under the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and Pacific island leaders, China and Pacific island nations have achieved positive results in building a common destiny. The Communist Party of China is willing to strengthen strategic communication with political parties in Pacific Island countries, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in governing the Party and the country, expand “party +” cooperation, and contribute party strength to the building of a common destiny between China and the Pacific island countries. Foreign parties attending the meeting said that China is a true friend and good partner of the Pacific island countries. The island countries firmly abide by the one-China principle, oppose any form of “Taiwan independence” activity, and are willing to have close inter-party contacts with China, deepen practical cooperation and regional cooperation, and promote greater development of bilateral relations.
