11:51 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, or ACEA, welcomed the "interim deal" reached by the European Union and China regarding trade in hybrid vehicles as a "positive" step in easing the two parties' trade tensions. The auto industry trade group said the agreement can help facilitate the entry of Chinese hybrid electric vehicles into the EU market in an "orderly" manner and address "critical trade imbalances," according to a Friday release. The statement follows the EU's announcement that it reached an "understanding" with China on the latter's exports of hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles into the bloc.
