Mkango Magnetic Materials' German Unit Wins EU Strategic Project Status

10:48 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Mkango Magnetic Materials' (MKA.L) German subsidiary HyProMag secured Strategic Project status under the European Union's Critical Raw Materials Act, according to a Friday release. The designation recognizes the unit's key role in supplying critical raw materials in Europe. The London-listed critical metals company now holds strategic status for three projects, namely the HyProMag rare earth magnet recycling and manufacturing plant in Pforzheim, Germany, the Songwe Hill rare earths mine development project in Malawi, and the Pulawy rare earths separation project in Poland. Mkango said its HyProMag plant is starting production with a minimum initial annual capacity of 100 tonnes of neodymium-iron-boron magnets and alloys, with plans to scale toward 750 tonnes per year.
