08:23 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Carlyle Group is no longer actively looking to acquire Lukoil's international assets, Reuters reported Friday, citing a spokesperson. The US private equity group agreed in January to buy the foreign assets of the Russian oil producer, excluding those in Kazakhstan, and was in talks with several potential partners for the deal, according to the report. The portfolio, put up for sale following new US sanctions on Russia, was initially valued at $22 billion and attracted interest from at least a dozen companies. Carlyle and Lukoil did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
