The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data from the General Administration of Customs compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in August, 22,000 vehicles were imported, down 48.0% from the previous month, down 50.1% from the previous year; the import amount was 1.43 billion US dollars, down 32.7% from the previous year, down 32.4% from the previous year. In August, exports of complete vehicles were 1.047 million units, down 4.2% from the previous month, up 37.2% year on year, and the export value reached US$18.33 billion, down 3.4% from the previous month, up 43.0% year on year.

From January to August 2026, 267,000 vehicles were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 16.5%; the import amount was US$12.99 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 19.9%. From January to August 2026, total vehicle exports were 7.446 million units, up 51.2% year on year; export value reached US$129.11 billion, up 53.1% year on year.
