The Japan Bank for International Cooperation will more than double the maximum loan amount for US natural gas power generation projects. As part of a trade agreement with the White House, Japan is preparing to increase investment in America's energy infrastructure. According to a statement issued on Friday, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, which has the government's background, signed a revised agreement to raise the maximum loan commitment for such projects from about US$630 million to US$1.98 billion. This capital will be distributed to Japan Investment 3 Co., Ltd., an American company funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation under a strategic investment plan. The plan framework was born after the signing of the above trade agreement. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation said that the purpose of this move is to support the construction of natural gas power plants and supporting transmission facilities, and the project will be integrated with data centers. The initiative is part of Japan's $550 billion investment plan to the US. This investment covers the fields of semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, metals, key minerals, shipbuilding, and energy, and is a supporting arrangement for the Japan-US agreement to restrict tariffs on Japanese goods.
