01:24 AM EDT, 10/09/2026 (MT Newswires) -- MMG alleged that the European Commission ignored some evidence in the investigation of its $500 million offer for the Brazilian nickel business of mining giant Anglo American (AAL.L, AGL.JO), Reuters reported Thursday. Troy Hey, executive general manager for corporate relations at the Hong Kong-listed mining and metals company, said the in-depth antitrust inquiry and claims that the deal would divert ferronickel supply to China from Europe were "fundamentally unsupported," alleging that regulators ignored economic and market analysis it provided in support of the transaction. Hey also suggested that MMG could offer remedies to address the commission's concerns about the deal in the coming weeks. The regulators heard both MMG and Anglo American as part of their investigation into the transaction. The European Commission did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
