Recently, the National Energy Administration held a video conference on monthly scheduling of renewable energy power development and construction across the country. The conference pointed out that from January to August 2026, China's new energy and renewable energy development generally maintained a steady trend. Renewable energy generation reached 2,496 billion kilowatts, accounting for 60.8% of the country's total installed electricity; 159 million kilowatts were added, accounting for 71.6% of the total installed capacity; and 2.77 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 41.6% of the country's total power generation. Among them, Scenery has a total installed capacity of 19.92 billion kilowatts, accounting for 48.5% of the country's total installed electricity capacity, and a total power generation capacity of 1.71 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 23.8% of the electricity consumption of the entire society. The installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation has historically surpassed coal power, making it the largest power category with installed capacity. The conference emphasized that the next step is to focus on four tasks. The first is to make every effort to promote major new energy projects. The second is to improve and perfect the price settlement mechanism for sustainable development of new energy sources. Third, we attach great importance to the issue of electricity consumption from renewable energy sources. Fourth, give full play to the important role of the renewable energy sector in stabilizing investment and promoting growth.
