From January to August, Internet business revenue maintained steady growth, total profit growth accelerated, and R&D investment maintained rapid growth.

I. Overall operation

Internet business revenue has maintained steady growth. From January to August, the Internet business revenue of Internet and related service enterprises above the scale of China (hereinafter referred to as Internet enterprises) increased 8.9% year-on-year. The growth rate was 1.6 percentage points higher than in January-July. By sector, the Internet business revenue of enterprises in the information service sector increased 8% year on year, and the Internet business revenue of enterprises in the lifestyle service sector decreased by 0.3% year on year.

Total profit growth accelerated. From January to August, the total profit of Internet enterprises above the size of China increased by 12.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 7.7 percentage points higher than in January-July.

R&D spending has continued to grow rapidly. From January to August, R&D investment of Internet enterprises above the size of China increased 15.0% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than in January-July.

II. Operation by region

From January to August, Internet business revenue in the eastern region, central region, western region, and northeast region increased by 10.2%, -14.3%, 2.6%, and -19.1%, respectively. The eastern region accounts for 91% of the country's Internet business revenue. Internet business revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region increased 12.4% year on year, and Internet business revenue in the Yangtze River Delta region increased 9.8% year on year. The two regions accounted for 33.8% and 30.8% of the country's Internet business revenue, respectively. From January to August, there were 16 provinces (districts and cities) that achieved positive growth in Internet business revenue. Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Guizhou ranked in the top 5 in the country.
