International Monetary Fund Managing Director Georgieva said that governments must act urgently to address the challenges posed by unbalanced AI development, long-term energy shocks, and record debt accumulation. She pointed out that the current boom in competition to develop artificial intelligence is bringing about a wave of growth, but so far this wave of growth has been limited to only a few countries. Georgieva said, “The AI construction boom has the effect of boosting inflation. Energy and food shocks will also drive up inflation. Tariffs, defense spending, and high public debt are also likely to trigger inflation.” She called on central banks to take a “prudent hawkish stance.”
