Zhou Zhiwei, deputy director of the Planning and Planning Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, said that it is expected that by the end of the “15th Five-Year Plan”, China will add 15 billion cubic meters of reservoir capacity; reach 91% of important embankment; add 40 million mu of cultivated land to irrigate; reach 98% of rural tap water penetration; add 310,000 square kilometers of soil erosion control area; and maintain the basic ecological flow rate of key rivers and lakes above 90%.
