On the afternoon of October 5, local time, early this morning Beijing time, Ambassador Sun Lei, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, delivered a statement in response to the baseless accusations made by Western countries during the general debate of the 81st General Assembly Third Committee. Ambassador Sun Lei said that the representatives of Britain, Australia, Japan, Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania maliciously slandered China's human rights situation in their speeches, and the Chinese side expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition. These countries think that they are superior, and they tend to act like “human rights teachers.” However, their domestic human rights issues are prominent; they are simply not qualified to talk about human rights, let alone say anything about China. The Chinese side advises a few countries to stop fabricating and spreading lies about China and stop using human rights issues to engage in political manipulation; otherwise, they will only hit themselves in the foot.
