Three US officials revealed that US President Trump's core cabinet members met behind closed doors for several hours at Camp David on Friday to discuss the war in Iran and the follow-up plan to the armed conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen. The Trump administration did not announce this highly unusual meeting to the outside world. The last time a similar meeting was held was in June 2025, just a few days before Israel went to war against Iran. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the Camp David meeting during a group interview with reporters before leaving for Europe on Monday. He said, “We have been meeting on long-term strategic planning and similar topics. It's not unusual for a team to get together to discuss this book. This time I just found a less intrusive meeting place.” He added, “This is one of the responsibilities of the National Security Council — bringing together relevant personnel from all parties to carry out long-term planning. The planning cycle is six or nine months, and often looks forward to the situation five or even ten years from now. I wouldn't say it's routine... but we've had meetings like this before.” Relevant officials said that the meeting was presided over by Vice President Vance.
