The Zhitong Finance App learned that Citibank released a research report on September 30, saying that the State Press and Publication Administration announced the 9th batch of game editions in 2026 on September 30, with a total of 209 models, including 206 domestically produced models and 3 imported models, which is the second largest batch this year, and more than 200 for the second month in a row, including Tencent Holdings (00700) and “Dream Cleanup”; a total of 621 models were approved in the third quarter, a record high in a single quarter, up from 463 models in the same period last year, as well as 467 models in the first quarter of this year and 483 models in the second quarter.

According to the bank, a total of 1,571 games were approved in the first nine months of this year, equivalent to 89% of the 1,771 games in the full year of last year. It reaffirms its expectation that 1,900 to 2,100 editions will be approved throughout this year, and believes that it is quite likely to meet the standards and will be higher than last year. The bank expects that the number of monthly approvals for the remaining three months may continue to exceed 200. Benefiting from the supply of high-quality content, evergreen games, and efficiency improvements brought about by artificial intelligence, the expansion of version supply will help support healthy industry fundamentals.
