Thailand plans to establish a dual shareholding structure to attract more companies to list on local exchanges. The move was aimed at allaying the company's founders concerns about stock dilution and ending the slump in the number of newly listed companies. The proposal, which is expected to be implemented in 2027, is also aimed at meeting the needs of institutional investors who want to invest more in top local companies. Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Kittipong Urapipattanaporn said that the amendments to the Thai Listed Companies Law will allow listed companies to issue different types of shares with different voting rights. Kittipong said that the Stock Exchange of Thailand has been cooperating with the Ministry of Finance, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other agencies to push forward the dual shareholding structure amendment. It is expected that the amendment will be passed by the parliament this year.
