US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Iran will not have any oil transportation by sea this week, and there will be no related revenue; Washington is stepping up efforts to implement what he described as an “unprecedented act” aimed at isolating Tehran economically. “This is the first time in their history since they began extracting oil. There will be no Iranian oil being transported by sea this week,” Bezent said in an interview broadcast on Saturday. “They will not have any revenue.” Bezent said that this economic pressure is a follow-up to a series of deliberate military and economic measures against Iran. “We have taken action 'kinetic energy', destroyed their navy and air force, drastically reduced their drone and missile capabilities, and crushed the possibility of them rebuilding those forces,” he said. “Afterwards, we moved to what the president called an 'iron wall' and lockdown strategy — something we've never done before,” Bezent added. “And now, we're implementing 'economic abandoners' to economically isolate them in an unprecedented way.”
