Insiders who bought BOA Resources Limited (ASX:BOA) stock in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The company's market value increased by AU$19m as a result of the stock's 59% gain over the same period. As a result, the stock they originally bought for AU$735.6k is now worth AU$4.58m.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

BOA Resources Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by insider Robert Van der Laan for AU$432k worth of shares, at about AU$0.025 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of AU$0.17. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

While BOA Resources insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. The average buy price was around AU$0.028. It is certainly positive to see that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, you should keep in mind that they bought when the share price was meaningfully below today's levels.
