Hogs Falling on Thursday

Lean hog futures are trading with losses of 85 cents to $1.10 in the front months on Thursday. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Thursday due to thin trade. The CME Lean Hog Index was up a penny on September 29 at $80.95. 

Export Sales data showed 35,288 MT of pork sales in the week of September 24 for 2026 shipment. Actual exports were tallied at 34,768 MT in that week, a 20-week high.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was up $85.05 in the Wednesday morning report, at $85.05. The loin, picnic, and belly primals were reported higher. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday was estimated at 486,000 head, with the weekly total at 1.463 million head. That was 30,000 head above last week and 14,793 head larger than the same week last year.

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $68.575, down $0.850

Feb 27 Hogs are at $69.200, down $0.975,
