Insider Traders Lose CA$26k As Sylogist Drops

Simply Wall St · 1d ago

Insiders who bought CA$122.4k worth of Sylogist Ltd.'s (TSE:SYZ) stock at an average buy price of CA$3.29 over the last year may be disappointed by the recent 10% decrease in the stock. Insiders buy with the expectation to see their investments rise in value over a period of time. However, recent losses have rendered their above investment worth CA$96.4k which is not ideal.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Sylogist

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Chairman Errol Olsen bought CA$79k worth of shares at a price of CA$3.30 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than CA$2.59 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

While Sylogist insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below.
