Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's government plans to finalize the detailed costs for the first five years of this 14-year, $2.3 trillion investment plan, as a first step to eliminate the uncertainty brought about by this grand plan. Documents submitted to the Japan Growth Strategy Conference on Thursday show that the government will clarify the areas and scale of domestic investment up to around 2030 before the end of the year, adding more details to the previously announced growth strategy. A Cabinet Secretariat official said that the government is also planning to split the scale of public sector and private sector investment. Earlier this year, Sanae Takaichi announced plans to achieve a total of 370 trillion yen of public and private investment in 17 strategic fields, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and national defense by 2040. This short-term blueprint will more clearly outline costs, feasibility, and the division of government and private sector funding, which will help ease market concerns.
