Sipchem's Al-Waha Unit to Shut for Six Weeks for Maintenance, Expansion Work

(SASE:2310), d/b/a Sipchem's, affiliate Al-Waha Petrochemicals began a scheduled six-week shutdown on Thursday for maintenance and expansion activities, according to a same-day release. The activities would enhance plant reliability and support completion of the propylene and polypropylene plant expansion project, increasing production capacity by 30% to 600,000 metric tons annually from 450,000 metric tons. The chemical company said the financial impact of the shutdown will depend on its actual duration and product selling prices during the period.
