DFI Retail to Acquire Maxim's Starbucks-licensed Business in Asia for $340 Million

08:20 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- DFI Retail Group (DFI.L, DFA1.F) will take full ownership of Hong Kong-based food and beverage group Maxim's Caterers Ltd's Starbucks-licensed business, covering over 1,100 coffeehouses across seven Asian markets. In exchange, Maxim's will buy back the London-listed retailer's 50% stake in the company and pay $340 million in cash consideration to reflect the valuation difference between the stake and Maxim's interest in the Starbucks-licensed business, according to a Wednesday release. The business is immediately revenue and operating margin accretive to DFI's core retail operations. Closing is targeted for March 31, 2027, subject to third-party consents, antitrust clearance, and the completion of the internal separation of the Starbucks-licensed business from Maxim's other operations.
